Marble from Greece

A client contacted us to ask if we could assist them in moving carved marble from the quarry in Greece where the craftsmen were working their magic to the remodelling of a church in Central London.

From mine to London

I accepted a large project for DTS, where I had to collaborate with craftsmen in Greece. They shared their plans and preferences for handling shipments, and it became evident that they would require a considerable amount of space. So, we found and secured a modern warehouse nearby, equipped it with forklift trucks and lifting machinery, and began transporting truckloads of marble to the warehouse.

We took great care while transporting the marble to the church so that the craftsmen could work with ease. Some pieces were too heavy to move, so we had special stillages made to ensure safe transportation. For moving these heavy items, we arranged specialist vehicles with solid sides and tail-lifts. Up to 10 men were there to assist in unloading the items and placing them in the church as per the craftsmen's instructions.

After three months, we had everything in place and fitted. We also helped with the installation of specially engraved, solid oak doors inlaid with gold for the vestry. Once everything was completed, the client and craftsmen were very satisfied with our work. Even today, the master craftsman sends me a text every Christmas to stay in touch.
